Port Harcourt- Chris Green, a member of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) board, has urged the Golden Eaglets not to be complacent at the African championship in spite of beating their hosts.
The Nigerian under-17 male side beat hosts Niger Republic 2-0 in the opening match of the African Under-17 Championship in Niamey on Sunday.
Green, in his reaction, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Sunday that the win was a good one for the Eaglets.
“It’s a good win for the team and for Nigeria, because they are world champions. Anything less than that won’t have been very good for us.
“It’s also another way of announcing their presence in the tournament,’’ he said.

The Chairman of NFA’s Disciplinary Committee however said in spite of the win, the Eaglets should not be complacent and should be focused.
“They should not be complacent, they should concentrate and get focused.
“You cannot win a tournament by winning one match. They should not be carried away by the victory and I think many more will come,’’ he said.
Green said, having started on a good note, the Eaglets are now expected to qualify for the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
“I also have confidence in the technical officials of the team that they will do a good job,’’ he said.(NAN)
