Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has shown there is no rift in relationship between him and the governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom after their recent altercation.
Wike who informed that he joined other governors in a Peace meeting initiated by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo in Aso Rock Villa, also posted his picture with Samuel Ortom at the occasion.
The Rivers State governor announced his participation at the meeting on his official twitter handle @GovWike, also twitted his picture with the Benue State counterpart, Governor Samuel Ortom where they were embracing each other.
The Rivers State Governor on his twitter handle said, “Governor Wike joins other governors at a Peace Meeting initiated by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo”.
Sundiata Post recalls that Wike and Ortom were involved in war of words on 30th and 31st of March over the claim of award to construct Makurdi-Naka-Adoka and the Aliade-Oju-Obarike-Ito-Otukpo roads.
While Wike said he awarded the construction of the two roads at the cost of N4billion to alleviate the sufferings of the people, but expressed regret that he got information that there is plan to disturb the contractors doing the work.
The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom swiftly described the claim by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike of constructing the Aliade-Onu-Obarike-Ito-Otukpo and Makurdi-Naka-Adoka roads as a tissue of lies. Ortom said there was no proof that Wike had such plan.
He said, “nothing could be further from the truth” than Governor Nyesom Wike’s assertion that there were plans to disrupt his road projects in Benue State.
Sundiata Post further recalls that the peace meeting is part of consultations being undertaking by Acting President Osinbajo with stakeholders in the country over the increasing tension arising from altimatum of Arewa Youths to Igbos.
