KANO – Gen. Martin Luther Agwai retired, the Chairman of Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), has urged contractors handling the dualisation of Kano-Maiduguri road to to complete the project on schedule.
Agwai gave the task while inspecting the Kano-Maiduguri road project in Kano.
Agwai was represented by a member of SURE-P and the National President, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Najeem Yasin.
He said the Federal Government attached great importance on the project in view of its significance to the people of the benefitting communities.
According to him, the project would boost socio-economic activities in the three states and the neighbouring countries, when completed.
He noted that the project, which is being executed with an intervention from SURE-P, would also enhance socio-economic activities of the communities living along the road.[eap_ad_2]

He assured the contractors that the federal government would give the necessary support to enable them complete the project in accordance with the contractual terms.
Earlier, a representative of Setraco, one of the contractors handling the project, said the second section of work at Wudil had reached about 46 per cent completion.
He promised to ensure that the work was completed on time and in accordance with the specifications.
The dualisation of Kano-Maiduguri road was awarded in 1998 to enhance the economic activities of the people of Kano, Borno and Yobe states. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
