UMUAHIA – The immediate past Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State, Sir. Okechukwu Ahaiwe has emerged the new governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State.
Ahaiwe trounced the other candidates, including the incumbent deputy Governor of Abia State, Hon Ude Oko Chukwu to emerge with 469 votes.
His closest rivals, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe and Hon Ude Oko Chukwu garnered 12 votes each while Sampson Uka Orji came a distant 4th with 11 votes according to the result announced by the chairman of the election, Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State.
Ahaiwe will now fly the PDP’s flag, replacing the late Professor Eleazar Ikonne, who passed away 10 days ago.
