AHIARA DIOCESE MBAISE, IMO STATE (Press Release) – In a landmark event that marks a significant chapter in the history of the Ahiara Diocese Mbaise in Imo State, an Episcopal Ordination was held for the first time on Mbaise Soil, it was for the to consecration of Bishop Simeon Okezuo Nwobi. The occasion, which took place at the Mater Ecclesiae Cathedral, Ahiara Mbaise, brought together dignitaries, clergy, and faithful from all walks of life to witness this historical milestone.
Bishop Simeon Okezuo Nwobi, a dedicated servant of the Church and a native son of Mbaise, was honored with the responsibility of shepherding the Ahiara Mbaise Diocese. This groundbreaking ordination signifies not only a personal achievement for Bishop Nwobi but also a momentous occasion for the five clans or threitute the Mbaise nation. e Local Government Areas (LGAs), that constitute the Mbaise nation.
In an unprecedented gesture of support and appreciation, the laity, clergy of the Ahiara Diocese and admirers, came together under the aegis of the Ahiara Diocese World Wide Laity Council, led by distinguished personalities such as Professor Eddie Oparaoji, Dr. Jude Iheoma, Her Excellency Professor Viola Onwuliri, Hon Lady Maurine Achilike, among others. These committed individuals played a pivotal role in organising and financing a remarkable gift for Bishop Nwobi—a top-of-the-line, locally manufactured Innoson Motors SUV.
The Ahiara Diocese World Wide Laity Council, with the leadership of Professor Eddie Oparaoji at the forefront, displayed unwavering commitment to their faith and community by contributing to the realization of this remarkable gift. Over140 donors generously financed the cost of the Innoson SUV, in less that four weeks to the consecration, when the purchase decision was made. Notable among the donors are Sir Stanley Amuchie, a philanthropist and an Anglican; Dr. Emmanuel Njoku, an international entrepreneur and the enterprising Akpunku Family.
Sir Stanley Amuchie and Dr. Emmanuel Njoku, along with other philanthropists and donors, exemplified the spirit of unity and generosity by coming together to celebrate the ordination of Bishop Nwobi and contribute to the gift that reflects the pride and strength of local innovation.
The locally manufactured Innoson Motors SUV, presented to Bishop Simeon Okezuo Nwobi, symbolizes not only the appreciation of his leadership but also the promotion of indigenous industries. This gesture reinforces the Ahiara Mbaise Diocese’s commitment to supporting local businesses and fostering economic growth within the community.
