Abuja- The Nigeria Air Force (NAF) on Monday promoted 16 officers to the rank of Air Vice Marshal (AVMs) and advanced 35 others to the position of air commodore.
NAF also promoted 33 officers to the rank of group captain and 26 others to the position of wing commander.
This is contained in a statement issued by Air Commodore Dele Alonge and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
The Commander of the 75 Strike Group, Yola, Emmanuel Anebi; Commander, 7 Composite Group, Maiduguri, Nurudeen Balogun; and Commander, 201 Heavy Airlift Group, Ikeja, Christopher Okoye, are among the new AVMs.
Other AVMs are the Commander, 97 Special Operations Group, Port Harcourt, Ajibola Jekennu; Commander, 106 Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force Camp, Abuja, Abdul Bello; and Chief of Accounts and Budget, NAF Headquarters, Jacob Adigun.
The statement said that Commander of the 81 Air Maritime Group, Benin, Olusoj Awomodu, and Commander, 203 Medium Airlift Group, Ilorin, Ndana Kudu, were also promoted to the rank of AVM.
Also promoted as AVMs are the Commander of the 301 Flying Training School, Kaduna, Dayo Adeluoye; Director of Plans at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Samson Akpasa; and College Secretary, National Defence College, Abuja, Kingsley Lar.
The others include: John Kayode-Beckley, the Director of Armament at NAF Headquarters; Director of Works at NAF Headquarters, Ibrahim Yahaya; Commander, National Air Defence Corps, Ikeja, Bernard Chiobi.
The Commander of the 445 Nigerian Air Force Hospital, Ikeja, Saleh Shinkafi, and the Chairman Military Pensions Board, Muhammad Dabo, were equally promoted to the rank of AVM.
The statement said that the promotion was in line with the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.
It said that the exercise was to encourage officers and airmen to rededicate themselves to their duties for the development of NAF and the entire Nigeria. (NAN)
