Lashkar Gah – A total of 11 militants were killed after aircraft pounded Taliban hideouts in southern Helmand province in Afghanistan, provincial government said on Thursday.
The provincial government said in a statement that two more militants sustained injuries in the raids in Garmsir district.
According to the statement, two group commanders of the Taliban named Mullah Zaheen and Mullah Ghazi are among those killed in the air raids.
However, Taliban militants are yet to make comment on the situation.
They have tightened noose around Garmsir district and have been fighting to overrun Helmand provincial capital Lashkar Gah, 555 kilometres south of national capital Kabul.
