Lagos – Mr Joe Ajaero, factional leader of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Tuesday gave the Hassan Sunmonu-led reconciliation committee seven days within which to publish reconciliation document.
Ajaero, in a letter written to Sunmonu which was made available to newsmen in Lagos, said that the factions had reached an agreement on the contending issues.
The letter signed by its Acting General Secretary, Mr Chris Onyeka, criticised various statements credited to Sunmonu, a former President of the NLC.
“We give you seven days to publish the documents or we will be forced to tell Nigerian workers the roles you have played against their interest.
“If you refused to publish the said document, we shall be at liberty to call you a saboteur of Nigerian workers who has unfortunately become a divisive tool in the hands of our oppressors,’’ he said in the letter.
Ajaero said that the reconciliation committee had yet to conclude its work to reunite the labour movement.
According to him, the people should be informed on when, where and how the committee concluded its work for them to deduce if the NLC has settled its crisis.
The factional labour leader said that with the current situation in the country, the people knew who betrayed them during the oil subsidy discussion.
“If anybody betrayed Nigerian workers during the last oil subsidy engagement, the public and Nigerian workers already know who did,’’ he said in the letter.
Ajaero said that the other faction scuttled the opportunity which the movement had to speak with one voice and sabotaged the engagement through unnecessary ego.
He said his faction had fulfilled every part of agreement reached by the factions, but the other faction constantly reneged because it sought external opinion after negotiation. (NAN)
