Ilorin- The PDP governorship flag bearer in Kwara, Sen. Simeon Ajibola, has promised to pay up all the entitlements owed pensioners and workers in the state if elected.
Ajibola made the promise on Sunday in Ilorin at a meeting he held with members of a group, Kwara Concerned Pensioners.
He said it was wicked to deny pensioners, who had served the state meritoriously for between 20 and 35 years, their entitlements.
Ajibola, however, appealed to the pensioners to be patient and vote for PDP in other to secure their future.
“I promise you that once I am elected as governor, it will be my priority to ensure that your entitlements are paid as at when due,” Ajibola said.
Earlier, Mr Deji Gbadeyan, the counsel to the pensioners, had told Ajibola that more than 10, 000 pensioners went to court to enforce their rights, adding that they lost at the High Court.

The lawyer also pointed out that the Court of Appeal gave judgment in their favour and ordered the state government to pay them their N1. 6 billion pension arrears.
Gbadeyan gave an assurance that the pensioners would support Ajibola and work for the success of the PDP in February’s elections.
One of the pensioners, Mr Phebian Oyinlola, told Ajibola that the pensioners had not received an increment in pension in the last eight years.
He added that in spite of the numerous challenges facing pensioners in the state, many of their graduate children were unemployed.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ajibola later presented a bus to the pensioners. (NAN)
