IBADAN – Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, has emerged winner of APC primary election with 4,684 votes.
He defeated Dr Wasiu Lam-Adesina, who got only 22 votes out of 4,774 votes cast by delegates.
However, a total of 90 votes were voided.
The third aspirant, Bayo Shittu, pulled out of the contest on protest.
Ajimobi expressed optimism of securing a second term in office.
“Now that I won the primary, I am sure of beating any other candidate from the opposition party,” he said.
The governor, who expressed gratitude to the delegates for voting for him, promised to address the welfare of the people during his second term in office.
Meanwhile, Lumumba Adeh, Chairman of the five-man APC Governorship/House of Assembly Electoral Committee, said that one of the aspirants, Bayo Shittu, withdrew from the contest on protest.
“The committee received a petition from one of the contestants and his letter would be forwarded to the National Secretariat of the party,” he said.
NAN reports that 4,776 delegates participated in the election,while state has 33 local government areas and 365 Wards.
