On the 6th of November, the Department of Mass Communication hosted an international conference in honour of the distinguished Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna. For those unfamiliar with her background, HRH Igwe Prof. Onuorah Nwuneli revealed that the renowned writer, Prof. Akachi Ezeigbo (née Adimora), is the elder sister of Prof. Chinyere Okunna (née Adimora). One individual, in a moment of awe, even humorously questioned the divine fairness in distributing gifts, pondering how so much brilliance could be concentrated in a single family. But what “gifts” are we talking about? Both of these remarkable women are, without a doubt, gifts to humanity in their own right.
In the Facebook post detailing the event, which has garnered a flurry of reactions, I was particularly moved by a comment from Prof. Akachi and the heartfelt response from her younger sister.
I invite you to read the comment and the reply. What do you think? Is this the true expression of sororal love? How often do we witness such profound and genuine affection between siblings in other families?
Prof Akachi: “Big congratulations, my beloved sister. You deserve all the honour, celebration and accolades. I’m proud to be your elder sister. Continue to make us proud. Keep shining! Keep mentoring future academics! Keep making Adimora and Okunna families proud. We love you very much. May God continue to bless you.🙏 👏 👏 👏 👏”
Prof. Chinyere : “Amen and Amen!!! May it continually be well with you, my Darling Big Sister Prof Akachi Ezeigbo. I know you know how much this Sister of yours loves you and how immensely she appreciates your support and inspiration in all she does. Bless you😇.“
Are you touched?
