BADAGRY (LAGOS STATE) – The Akran of Badagry, Aholu Menu-Toyi 1, on Thursday urged Christians to pray during the Easter period that peace should continue to reign in the country .

The Akran, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry, also appealed to Nigerians to remember to help the less-privileged in the society during the season.

“The Easter period should not be celebrated by just going for various outings but it should be a time when Nigerians, especially Christians, pray for the country.

“It should also be a time for sober reflection, to do a critique of our lives and think of how to make them better.

“We should learn how to impact positively on people’s lives during this season and after it,“ he said.

The traditional ruler also advised Nigerians to shun violence, especially during the election period.

“Violence can only bring in more crises, it can never solve any problem so we should learn how to embrace peace.

“There are established procedures through which we can register our grievances without hurting one another.

“We should follow such due process instead of resorting to jungle justice; embracing peace is good for everyone, so we should live by that,’’ he said. (NAN)
