Uyo – The wife of Akwa Ibom Governor, Mrs Martha Emmanuel, has urged parents and guardians to teach and inculcate good moral values in their wards, in order to secure their future.

Mrs Emmanuel made the call when she received a delegation of BEAUTIFUL IMAGINATIONS, organisers of the little Miss Akwa Ibom beauty pageant at Government House in Uyo.
She lauded the organisers for their insightful and visionary initiative in floating an outfit geared towards raising children to become assets to their families and the society at large.
”I salute the group for its ingenuity over the years; I charge the little Miss Akwa Ibom, Miss Rachel Ekpo, not to relegate her academic pursuit to the background but rather stay focused and study hard so as to be a good ambassador of the group and the state.
Earlier in her address, the Little Miss Akwa Ibom congratulated the governor’s wife for their success at the polls and subsequent swearing in as the first family of Akwa Ibom State.
She described the success as a divine manifestation of the hand of God in their lives.
She also appreciated the organisers of the beauty pageant for creating a platform to nurture and groom the girl-child.
She said it had afforded her the opportunity of learning good moral values that would assist her to engage with life’s challenges.
Ekpo also solicited the first lady’s support for her upcoming project slated later in the year.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the group, Mrs Itoro Etim, highlighted the aims and objectives of the organisation to include raising the girl-child to become an asset to the society.
Etim said the group, established 10 years ago, does this through fashion, movie production and organising beauty pageants.
She underscored the importance of synergy between government and the group in touching the lives of youths.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the highpoint of the visit was the award of the ‘Grand Patron’ of the Little Miss Akwa Ibom project on the the governor’s wife. (NAN)
