Mararaba (Nasarawa State) – Gov. Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State on Tuesday inaugurated the construction of 5.7 kilometres Ungwan Hashimu/Karu International Market road.
Al-Makura said the project would help to ease the traffic gridlock along the Abuja – Keffi highway as it would provide an alternative route for commuters plying the route.
He said the road would also facilitate the haulage of goods to the soon-to-be inaugurated Karu International Market.

The governor held that the inauguration marked the beginning of other projects that would enhance the wellbeing of residents in Karu Local Government Area.
“This is a demonstration of this administration’s care and commitment to the welfare of the people of Karu local government area’’, Al-Makura said.
According to Al-Makura, the last census figure of the state being used to determine the state’s federally-collected revenue, is ridiculous.
The governor said the population of one local government alone was over two million.
He said the project would be of immense benefit to the Federal Capital Territory as the majority of its workforce resides in Karu local government area.
He, therefore, appealed to the people of the area to cooperate with the contractors to facilitate the speedy completion of the project.
Mr Vicent Yuan, who represented the contractor, Tongyi Engineering, assured the governor that the job would be delivered in time and to specification. (NAN)
