Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The rate of infection in Nigeria is skyrocketing as she recorded an alarming 1,016 new cases of #COVID-19 within 24 hours, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control said on Wednesday.
According to the report released via it’s twitter handle, the health agency said that Lagos State – the epicentre of the coronavirus infection, led the other twenty states including FCT with 434 cases, followed by the FCT with 155 while Plateau came third with 94 infections.
Other states where confirmed cases were reported are: Kaduna and Rivers-56 each;
Oyo-30; Nasarawa-27; Zamfara-25; Abia-22;
Enugu and Kano-18 each; Bayelsa-15; Edo-14 and Ogun-11.
Others are: Borno and Ebonyi-10 each;
Jigawa-7; Anambra-4; Delta, Niger and Osun-3 each.
The NCDC noted that the total confirmed cases have risen to 86,576 out of which
73,322 patients have been treated and discharged from across the various isolation facilities in Nigeria.
It further added that 1,278 lives had been lost to the COVID-19 related complications since the index case was reported in February 27 this year in the country and gave the breakdown of total confirmed cases for each of the 36 states of the federation including FCT as follows:
