MINNA – Gov. Babangida Aliyu of Niger has called on the incoming All Progressive Congress (APC) administration to add value to the existing development in the state.
He made the call on Thursday while presenting the handover notes to the Governor-elect, Alhaji Sani Bello, at the Government House, Minna.
“We talk about opposition, but the opposition is only important and viable if it adds value to those administering the state at a given time.
“In other words, it is not about abuse and making the government look bad, but rather it should be about adding value to the polity.
“If you have alternative policy that you think might do better, present it.
“And I am speaking to the new opposition, if you have access to those involved in policy making, you don’t have to go public, just quietly write it and give it to them,” he said.
In his remarks, Bello said that he was indebted to Aliyu for exposing him to public service.
”I am one of his students and feel indebted to him for exposing me to public service, which I have never done in my life.
