Abuja – Mr Abdullahi Candido, Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), has described the death of the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Abba Kyari, as a national loss.
Candido, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja, said that the late Kyari’s dedicated approach to the discharge of his national duties would not be forgotten.
He said that the death of the chief of staff should also make some Nigerians still doubting the existence of the Coronavirus pandemic, to now believe that it was real.
“I want to appeal to Nigerians and residents of AMAC to heed government and health authorities’ safety guidelines to stop the spread of this pandemic.
“Residents should also remember to adhere to the rules on personal hygiene, social distancing and the stay-at-home order, as this is the only way we can defeat this deadly virus together, “he said.
On the issue of palliative distribution, the chairman said that the council was working in synergy with the FCT administration to ensure that residents got their palliatives from next week.
“We are working in collaboration with our mother ministry, and AMAC will, by the grace of God, begin distribution of palliatives from early next week.
“We want to appeal to residents to bear with the situation, as the area council is also looking for a way to complement the efforts of the Federal Capital Territory,” he said. (NAN)
