LAGOS – the nigeria amputee football federation (naff) on monday said it had YET TO GET response from the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) over it application to allow it to pay its outstanding affiliation fee.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the nation was sanctioned by WAFF, the international body of amputee football for non-payment of its 2013 affiliation fee.
The Secretary of NAFF, Victor Anusa, told the NAN that inadequate fund was responsible for the non-payment of the fee as at when it was due in 20313.
“We sent a letter to them requesting for the invoice that will enable us make the payment but they have not replied us, however, we are on top of it,’’ he said.
He added that the country’s sanction was responsible for the non-participation of the national team at the ongoing World Cup, holding in Mexico.
He explained that the payment of the affiliation fee was due in January 2014, adding that it was a pre-requisite for participation in the World Cup, organised by WAFF.
Anusa, said that the body would ensure that subsequent affiliation fees to the world body would be paid promptly to avoid any form of sanction.
“The sanction, I must confess really affected us, the world Cup is going on now and we are not taking part, but this will not happen again,’’ he added. (NAN)
