Senator Andy Uba has boasted that he made his opponent in the upcoming Anambra governorship election, Charles Soludo the Central Bank of Nigeria governor.
Professor Charles Soludo is the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Governor while Uba is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
During a debate today organised by Arise TV, Uba claimed that he made Soludo governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria during the tenure of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo
Andy Uba is currently a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria. But, he is seeking to become the governor of Anambra state.
During the debate, Andy Uba slammed Soludo, accusing him of being ungrateful after he allegedly recommended him to Obasanjo for an appointment for the post of CBN Governor.
He said that despite Obasanjo referencing him as the reason for Soludo’s appointment when some traditional rulers came to the Villa on a thank-you visit, Soludo never showed the needed appreciation
He was quoted as saying, “When he (Soludo) became the CBN Governor, he came to my house to say thank you.
“Also, when five Igwes [traditional rulers] came to thank the President after the appointment, he [Obasanjo] told them to go thank me instead.”
But Soludo maintained that he never knew Andy Uba until former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili introduced them at the Presidential villa.
Anambra gubernatorial election holds on November 6th 2021, with the frontline candidates being Andy Uba for the APC, Professor Charles Soludo for APGA and Valentine Ozigbo for the PDP.
