Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The President of Anambra Welfare Association in Jos, under the aegis of Igbo Cultural Association (ICA), Chief Francis Nwafor (Ozueomee), has expressed his condolences over the demise of the President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
Recall that the son of the deceased, Jide Iwuanyanwu, had last week Thursday, announced the passing of Iwuanyanwu, our correspondent reports.
Jid said his father died at the age of 82.
Ubah’s death was however received on Saturday morning where he died in London at the age of 52.
Both Iwuanyanwu and Ubah were publishers of the Champion Newspaper and the Authority Newspaper respectively.
However, Nwafor in a statement made available to our correspondent said he sent his heartfelt sympathy to the Iwuanyanwu and Ubah’s families, the people of Imo and Anambra States, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Igbos in general.
According to him: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Engr. Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide and a renowned elder statesman, as well as the Chief Executive Officer Capital Oil, and a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ifeanyi Ubah.
“Their demise is a monumental loss to the entire Igbo race and our nation Nigeria.
“They were a visionary leader, a champion of unity, and a tireless advocate for the welfare of their people. Their wisdom, counsel, and contributions to the Igbo cause would be greatly missed.
“As statesmen, they played a significant role in shaping the Igbo history and promoting peaceful coexistence among our diverse ethnic groups.
“Their legacy will continue to inspire and fuel the Igbo cause.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to their families, Imo and Anambra States, the Igbo community, and all those who mourn their passing,” he added.
