Nawgu (Anambra)- The Nawgu Development Union in Anambra, on Tuesday appealed to the Federal Government and the Anambra government to provide bore holes and complete the road leading to Nawgu community.

The President-General of the union, Chief Emmanuel Ilozue, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nawgu community, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state, that the two amenities would improve the living standard of the people.

Ilozue said that the dust on the un-tarred road and lack of clean water were posing a serious health challenge for the people.

“The first developmental need of my community is the road leading from the local government headquarters (Dunukofia Council) in Ukpo, that is before the express (road) and stretching through my community to Isuaniocha, which is in Awka North Local Government Area and a neighbouring town to Nawgu.

“That is the first priority; if the state government can do it for the community, we would be okay.

“Secondly, we need some bole holes; there was one bole hole that was sited in the community when Honorable Onochie Okagbue was the transition committee chairman of the local government.

“That is the only bore hole that had been serving the community now, apart from the bole holes, you know, dug by individual people.

“The ones dug by individual people don’t really serve the community well because from time to time, one thing or the other will develop and they won’t work.

“So, these are the two key needs I think we have.“

The president-general, however, applauded the state government for establishing a comprehensive health centre for the community.

He also lauded the state government for improving security within the state, a development which, he said, had restored the confidence of citizens of the area, especially during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. (NAN)
