Awka – The Anambra State Government has signed an with Business Link Limited to construct a modern motor park worth N39 million in Nkpor near Onitsha.
Gov. Willie Obiano while signing the contract in Awka on Friday at the Government House, said the government would provide the land for the project.
He said that the motor park which would be located on Kilometer 12, Enugu – Onitsha Expressway, Npkor would be completed in four months.
Obiano said that the Public Private Partnership (PPP) would create about 30 per cent direct jobs and 80 per cent indirect jobs in addition to boosting the internally generated revenue of the state.
He said that the project when completed, would reduce indiscrinate parking of vehicles around the Nkpor flyover as well as displaced miscreants who stayed around the area.
Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director, Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Mr Joe-Billy Ekwunife said the revenue sharing would be 60/40 per cent for the investor and government respectively.
“The revenue formula will be implemented in the first phase of six years and later changed to 40/60 per cent for the investor and the state government in the second phase.’’
In his remark, the Managing Director of the Company, Mr Raphael Nnabuife said the park when completed would provide services to markets around Onitsha and environs.
Nnabuife listed the markets to include New Auto Spare Parts, Nkpor Main Market, New Tyre and Old Parts Market.
According to him, prior to the inception of Obiano administration, the project location was a den for criminals, hoodlums, miscreants and men of the underworld.
“The completion and operation of the project will decongest the perennial traffic jam in the area.
“It will assist immensely in beautifying and keeping the environment within the area clean and will further showcase the state as a state where cleanliness and orderliness are paramount,” he said.
