Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Ahead of the governorship election in Anambra state, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has arrived in Akwa, the Anambra State capital and immediately went into consultation with the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng E. Echeng.
He also met with members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), Anambra State chapter, to discuss the security situation with regard to the governorship election taking place on Saturday 6th November, 2021.
Recall that the INEC has said that it is prepared to go ahead with the November 6 governorship election in the state despite the security challenges and the 5 days sit-at-home threat declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra which it said will continue on 5th of November.
