A professor of paediatrics at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Dr. Jerome Boluwaji Elusiyan has been allegedly killed by pastoral Fulani herdsmen along Iruekpen road, Edo State, South-west Nigeria on Friday evening.
According to sketchy information emanating from friends of the medical doctor in the university, Prof Elusiyan, who came for the medical students’ paediatric examination was on the way back to his base when he was attacked and killed by the armed herdsmen on Friday evening at Iruekpen, Ekpoma in Edo State.
Prof Elusiyan who delivered the OAU last and 345th Inaugural Lecture in September with the title: Between Too Little and Too Much: Unravelling The Mystery and Misery of Endocrine Disorders in Children, has been described as a thorough lecturer, surgeon and a good man.
On his Facebook wall, Mrs. Toyin Adeyalo-Ogundare, Deputy Director, Hospital Services Ondo State Ministry of Health wrote of Prof. Elusiyan brutal death on Friday: “Am I supposed to think like people who claim about election periods the menace of the herdsmen is reduced, but an upsurge occurs thereafter?
Would you blame me if I agree with them?
Would you blame me if I join to say Nigeria is not safe?
Would you blame me when and if I encourage migration?
Rest in peace Prof Jerome Elusiyan, may those involved meet with you in less than 7days.
May they not find peace?
