Contrary to the assurances by the Committee for the Congress of the primaries for the All Progressives Congress in Enugu state, there’s already tension among party faithfuls as all the result sheets for the 260 wards weren’t at the wards.
Journalist101 gathered that all the officials deployed to the various wards for the exercise didn’t come to the congress venues with the result sheets. When confronted to explain the anomaly, they simply said that “it wasn’t handed over to them.”
When contacted, the State Caretaker Committee chairman in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye, confirmed the development saying that he “received the reports about missing result sheets.
“The fact is that in all the 260 wards, I have received calls that there was no results sheets. It was INEC officials that first alerted me about it,” Nwoye said.
Dr. Nwoye also said that the exercise was peaceful and there was no parallel congress across the State.
Efforts made to reach the chairman of the Congress Committee in Enugu State, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu was unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
Some of the aspirants for the various positions in the wards are already gearing for battle as they’re saying that what happened today can’t be defined as a Congress because the most sensitive material wasn’t at the venue of the exercise.
“Some of our party leaders aren’t ready for peace in this state and if what they did today isn’t corrected, it will be the nail on the coffin of the party in the state,” one of the candidates for chairmanship position told our correspondent.
