Port Harcourt – Chief Andrew Uchendu, senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Rivers East, said on Wednesday that the party`s candidates from the zone would remain law-abiding.
Uchendu, who spoke on their behalf, told a news conference in Port Harcourt that the candidates took the decision after reviewing the March 19 re-run legislative elections.
He said the political trend in the state was frightening and that the candidates had resolved not to be part of any group to cause break down of law and order.
“ We will not be part of any group that plans to destroy our state. Recent events have proved that there is uneasy calm in the state”, he said.
He said the APC candidates in the senatorial district had decided to remain law abiding after reviewing events in the state and in the polity.
“There is political madness in the land. The trend we are seeing is frightening and we, the candidates of APC, will never be part of it.

“Rivers belongs to all of us and we owe it as a sacred duty to preserve and defend it and hand the state over to the next generation”, he said.
Uchendu said the APC campaigned and mobilised for elections but was not prepared for violence.
“Beyond our individual political interest, care must be taken by all political gladiators to ensure that the integrity of the state remains unblemished”, he said. (NAN)
