An All Progressives Congress chieftain in Niger State, Alhaji Nma Kolo, on Thursday in Minna lauded party members for demonstrating high sense of political maturity at its Oct. 16 state congress.
Kolo, Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Niger State’s Gov. Abubakar Bello, gave the commendation when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the level of political maturity demonstrated by members resulted in the orderliness and successful conduct of the exercise.
The governor’s aide explained that the involvement of all elected members of the National and state Assemblies during the congress showed that the party had come to stay in the state.
He said that the party had already set in motion political mechanism that would continue to promote its lofty ideals.
“We have since reached out to our ward ambassadors in the 25 local government areas to begin house-to-house and town hall campaigns to mobilise eligible party men and women to acquire Permanent Voters Cards (PVC),’’ he said.
Kolo also told NAN that the task ahead of the present leadership of the party was to embark on aggressive political sensitisation and mobilisation to ensure that all members have their PVCs.
He said that it was only by so doing that the elected representatives of the party could win at the 2023 general elections.
As Progressives, we will sustain the tempo by carrying along all members to ensure good governance, he added.
“Our Permanent Voters Cards remain the only tool needed for us to retain power at the 2023 general elections.
“We will do everything humanly possible to create political awareness for our teeming supporters to acquire the PVC to be able to elect credible leaders that will provide good governance,’’ he added.
He explained that the campaign and sensitisation visits would start from wards to districts, to local governments, to zonal areas and to the state levels.
“We are also using the opportunity to highlight our modest achievements recorded by President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Abubakar Bello to sell our party to electorates,’’ Kolo said.
“Gov. Bello has reformed Niger State’s education sector through the re-construction of classrooms, provision of learning facilities and motivation of teachers.
“He has also done well in healthcare delivery, transportation, and provision of modern agricultural facilities at subsidised rates,’’ he said.
Kolo called on residents to continue to support and cooperate with government, especially by giving useful and reliable information that could assist security agencies in the fight against banditry kidnapping and other crimes.
