Abakaliki – Chief Austine Edeeze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi has urged the electorate to vote and defend their votes in the Feb. 16 and March 2 general election.
Edeeze gave the advise in Abakaliki on Wednesday while addressing APC supporters who took part in the ‘All Ebonyians for Buhari’ peaceful solidarity march for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The event was put together by the Women and Youths Presidential Team in collaboration with the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO).
Edeeze, also the state Coordinator of the BSO described the march as a huge success and noted that it was used to sensitise the electorate on the need to vote and defend their votes as well as maintain peaceful disposition during the election.
He said it was important that the electorate vote and defend their votes to protect the votes in order to secure their future.
Edeeze who is also the state coordinator of the APC Women and Youths Presidential Team (WYPT) warned against any form of infractions that could jeopardise the credibility of the election in the state.
“People must vote, stay back to protect their votes and should resist any attempt to temper with the votes or the ballot boxes.
“We are appealing to our supporters to stay and watch their votes being counted until the result is announced,” Edeeze said.
He said Buhari has performed well in infrastructure development, anti-graft fight, security and economic recovery to deserve a re-election and urged the people of Ebonyi to vote for the president in the Feb. 16 poll.
“Buhari has come to rebuild and restore Nigeria to greatness and the essence of this rally is to sensitise the electorate to see the need to return him to power for a second term.
“It is necessary that Nigerians return Buhari because I always refer to him as God sent to Nigeria; he has come to rebuild, he has not come to enrich himself.
“He is not corrupt and he has said it at several fora and nobody has contradicted or disputed the claim and this has remained a challenge to over 200 million Nigerians.
“What he is doing currently and his antecedent have qualified him to make the people vote him for a second term to fully preposition the country,” he added.
No fewer than 3000 party faithful took part in the solidarity walk which commenced at the state party secretariat along Abakaliki /Afikpo road and terminated at the Nkwegu Ugbala grand area at mile 50 axis of the capital city.(NAN)
