Ibadan- Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has congratulated former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, for emerging as presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Feb. 15, 2015 presidential election.
The governor, in a statement issued in Ibadan by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Festus Adedayo, also congratulated the APC for successfully organising the presidential primary which produced Buhari.
He said “the emergence of Gen. Buhari as presidential candidate of APC in a free and fair election was a further attestation of the high regard which our party has for democratic process and internal democracy.’’
Ajimobi added that with the successful completion of the primary under a peaceful atmosphere, APC was now set to take over power at the centre through the ballot box and take the country to greater heights.
The Oyo State governor commended the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by other APC contestants by accepting the outcome of the primary in good faith and congratulating the winner.
He expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Convention Committee, Dr Kayode Fayemi and other members for being fair, just and transparent in the conduct of the election.
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State, Gov. Rochers Okorocha of Imo and the Publisher of Leadership Newspapers, Mr Sam Nda-Isiah were co-aspirants at the APC presidential primary held in Lagos on Thursday. NAN)
