ABUJA – The All Progressives Congress Youth Forum, a Muhammadu Buhari Support Group, on Wednesday urged Nigerian youths to be patient but vigilant toward attainment of desired change in the country.
National Chairman of the group, Mr Ismaeel Ahmed, made the call at a news conference in Abuja.
He expressed gratitude to youths and volunteer organisations for the victory of the Buhari, the party’s candidate in the presidential polls.
Ahmed said that the results of the election showed that young people had started participating actively in national issues and preparing themselves to take charge.
He said that APC must begin to look at ways of empowering young people for the future.
He said, “participation does not end here; taking part to take charge does not end now as we young people must be patient to see the dividends of change.
“We must also be vigilant to ensure that the agents of change are accountable for their promises.
“I speak also to the young people of Nigeria who stood in the line to cast their votes.
“They also waited till the early hours of the morning to protect their mandate and participated in the electoral process to demand and effect change, “ he said.
Ahmed also commended young Nigerians on social media, describing them as “warriors of Facebook and Twitter,” who stood guard to engage the public and protect the message of change.

Ahmed commended all contestants that took part in the general elections across the country.
“I pay great respect to all candidates who conceded defeat in the time-honoured tradition of congratulating victors, such actions show that Nigeria’s young democracy is truly maturing,’’ he said. (NAN)
