SOKOTO – Alhaji Shaiubu Gambo, the Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, said that stringent security measures had been put in place for a peaceful conduct of Monday’s meeting of North West Zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto.
Gambo told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in Sokoto that already the command had deployed security personnel to the venue and various locations in the metropolis to ensure free meeting.
He said that the measure would prevent any form of political violence and thuggery before, during and after the meeting.
He said that the command would not tolerate any form of violence as its security personnel had been briefed on measures to be taken against any person or group that might want to cause confusion in the state.
Gambo said that all the routes leading to the venue of the meeting had been secured by the police for easy access.[eap_ad_2]
He explained that the command was working with other security agencies to ensure orderliness of the people and avoid security threats.
He warmed politicians in the state against any form of violence as the command would not tolerate acts capable of upturning the peaceful environment of the state.
NAN reports that police, members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Commission and vigilante groups were seen in and around the venue of the meeting.
Alhaji Umar Danladi, a delegate from Katsnia State, told NAN that ” I am very highly impressed with the level of arrangements, especially security wise’’.
He commended the state government for making adequate arrangement for a hitch-free meeting.
He also commended members of APC for demonstrating political maturity and orderliness.
Hajiya Rakiya Isa, a Women’s Leader from Kano State, called for more political tolerance and understanding ahead of the forth coming general elections. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
