UMUHIA – The All Progressives Congress’ (APC) ward congress in Abia State on Tuesday was peaceful with large turnout of party members in the 184 wards of the State.
The Coordinator of the congress, Mr Sunsday Akare, told newsmen in Umuahia that the exercise was not only peaceful but orderly and successful.
Akare, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osun, commended the party members for their turnout.
He explained that ward executives would emerge at the end of the exercise, while five delegates would be elected from each ward for Saturday’s local government congress.
Chief Donatus Nwankpa, the Interim State Chairman of the party, said the people demonstrated enthusiasm and zeal for the exercise.
He said that the large turnout showed the desire and commitment of the people to take over government at all levels in the 2015 general elections.
He said the peaceful and orderly conduct of the ward congress would be replicated during the local government congress.
He said results of the congress were being awaited. (NAN)
