Awka – Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, has urged public support for Gov. Willie Obiano’s second term bid.
Ezeonwuka made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Thursday.
He said that although Obiano had yet to declare publicly for the exalted position, the call become necessary to ensure his emergence for and success in 2017 governorship election in the state.
Ezeonwuka urged other politicians nursing such an ambition, particularly those from Anambra North, Obiano’s senatorial district, to support the governor instead of competing with him.
“If those from the same senatorial district with the governor give him maximum support, Obiano’s victory will be sure,’’ he said.
The APGA chieftain said that Obiano had done much to deserve a second term.
He appealed to Obiano’s predecessor, Mr Peter Obi, to return to the party and reconcile with the incumbent.
“Obiano must win for the sake of APGA and what the party stands for in Anambra and the entire South-East Geo-political Zone,’’ Ezeonwuka said.
