Ilorin – The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Kwara says it will only participate in the forthcoming local government election if the state government provides a level playing field for all parties.
The party’s National Vice Chairman (North Central), Mr Sule Ajayi, told newsmen on Monday in Ilorin that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) must not interfere in the electoral process.
Ajayi said that inspite of the request made to the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) , the date of the election had yet to be announced.
He added that APGA was only preparing in case the date was fixed unexpectedly while internal mechanisms were being deployed to choose candidates.
”On our part, we are working everyday to see that we go into the poll prepared; we only wish the ruling government gives us a level playing ground to compete.
”If this will be allowed, then we will participate fully, but no date has been fixed yet, we are just preparing.
”But what we want is that no political party should be given preference over others, ” Ajayi said.
