Owerri – The National Chairman, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Victor Oye, said on Monday in Owerri that his leadership projection was to transform the party to a national party in 2019.
Oye said this during a stakeholders’ summit organised by the Imo State chapter of the party.
He said that the party was working tirelessly to capture the governorship positions of the other South-East states of Imo, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi and many other states across the country.
The APGA boss noted that in spite of the economic recession in the country, the people of Anambra state being governed by APGA were not feeling the impact of the bad economy.
“In Anambra State, workers are paid their salaries in full and with 15 per cent upward review; the Gross Domestic Product of the state is the highest and in agriculture, Anambra is blazing the trail.
“In this 2016 Christmas, every worker in Anambra will, in addition to his/her salary, go home with a 50kg bag of rice produced in the state and by 2017, Anambra will join the league of net exporters of rice.’’
Oye who also spoke on the achievements of the APGA Executive Chairman in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT, said APGA manifesto was what Nigeria needed to develop.
He, however, charged the party members to be united and always support the activities and programmes of the party.
Oye said that the summit would be extended to other states to sensitize and educate the masses on the exploits of the party.
In a goodwill message, Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra appealed to APGA members to shun acts capable of causing friction in the party, noting that APGA required love and unity to progress.
The governor urged the people of South-East to key into APGA vision to overcome economic recession.
Mr Peter Ezeobi, the Imo State chairman of APGA, explained in an address of welcome, that the summit was held to re-awaken the interest of members and prepare them for the 2019 general elections.
Ezeobi called on the party’s supporters to enter the hinterland and preach the message of APGA, which according to him, is the leadership style in Anambra.
