Ilorin   –     The Apostolic Church of Nigeria (TACN) in Ilorin on Wednesday donated copies of its centenary history books to the University of Ilorin.

Pastor Daniel Olayemi, the TACN Superintendent, Ilorin Area, made the presentation on Wednesday at the University Library.

He said that the books would serve as reference materials for students and staff seeking information about Pentecostal movement in Nigeria, adding that the books contain records, activities and distinctiveness of the church from 1918 to 2017.

In his remarks, the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, expressed the university’s appreciation to the church for the donation.

The vice-chancellor, who was represented by the University Librarian, Dr John Omoniyi, said that “since we have a programme in the university called Comparative Religious Studies, it will be highly useful.”

Ambali pointed out that because of the religious harmony evident on the university campus, “a book like this will be appreciated by all regardless of individual religion.”

In his remarks at the ceremony, Prof. James Morakinyo of the university’s Department of Plant Biology, who is also a member of TACN, described the book as a “compendium of knowledge.”

He stated that those who read the books would gain some knowledge about the church’s activities from inception till date.
