ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – The South East Progressive Forum, an Igbo leaders’ group, has defended President Muhammded Buhari’s political appointments so far, saying it’s his prerogative.
They said the President is free to choose those he feels could work with him.
Mr. Bethel Amadi, who led a delegation of the group to meet with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday, told State House correspondents that the issue of political appointments for the South East didn’t come up in their discussion.
“Appointment is at the prerogative of the President. At the appropriate time, he will appoint people he can work with,” he said.

The delegation was waiting to be called to meet with the President at the Council Chambers, when the appointment of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and others were announced.
Amadi said the delegation discussed issues of general development of the South East with the President and drew his attention to the issue of bad roads, erosion and kidnapping in the zone, among others.
He said the President promised to look into the issues and also tasked them to return home and mobilise the youth to be more committed to the Nigerian project.
