GUSAU- A political group in Zamfara, Arewa Youths Concern (AYC), has condemned calls by some politicians for the removal of the minister of state for Defence, Alhaji Bello Matawalle.
The Chairman of the Group, Abdul Bala, made the condemnation at a press briefing in Gusau on Friday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some groups of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) had on Wednesday stormed the National Assembly, Abuja, calling for Matawalle’s removal over alleged wrongdoings when he was the governor of Zamfara.
“We see the call for his removal as a barbaric action of some unpatriotic citizens,” the AYC said in Gusau.
“We consider Matawalle’s appointment by President Bola Tinubu as deserving and a welcome development, considering his positive contributions to public and private services in the country.
“Even though, the call was sponsored by mischief makers, we consider it as uncalled for, considering Matawalles’ competence and deserving of President Tinubu’s appointment,” Bala said.
“As former local government chairman, former commissioner, former member of the House of Representatives who chaired the committee on security and immediate past governor, Matawalle has all the qualities to be a minister.
“We remain loyal to Metawelle, our leader and minister of state for Defence. We will continue to pray for Matawalle and President Tinubu to succeed in moving the country forward,” he added. (NAN)
