Lagos – A 54-year-old artist, Pascal Nwakanma, who allegedly constructed a substandard water fountain for his client, was on Wednesday charged before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The accused, who resides at No. 2 Abeni Balogun Str., Bariga, Lagos is facing a charge of cheating.
He was granted bail in the sum of 100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Philip Osijiale, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 27 at No. 2b, Ogidi Crescent, Lekki Phase 1 in Lagos.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
Osijiale said that the accused collected N250, 000, from the owner of Interior Culture Company that he would construct a standard water fountain, but failed to do so.
“A landscaping job was given to the accused, an advance payment of N250, 000 was made, but he did a poor job.
“He claimed that his workers deserted him after paying them to do the job,’’ he said.
Osijiale said that the offence contravened Section 321 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs Memunat Folami, adjourned the case to March 28, for trial. (NAN)
