ASABA (SUNDIATA POST)- Filmmakers and home video content creators in Asaba have expressed joy over the launch of Kissa X Online Streaming Platform on Monday in Asaba, Delta.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kissa X Online Streaming Platform provides an alternative platform for filmmakers to showcase their content and earn money online.
Speaking in an interview, some of the filmmakers, said the new platform would be a great relief given the challenges they had while distributing their films and reaching out to targeted audience.
According to Anita Odiakaose, a Film Producer, the initiative would create a huge opportunity for Nigerian film producers to market their films and make good returns on investment.
She said though there were other platforms, this would provide alternative such that there would not be much delay and rejection of films with local content “traditional Nigerian content”.
” It will give equal opportunities to all irrespective of tribes, religion and cultural background.
“Our films will find a place through this online platform to reach our targeted audience,” she said.
Odiakaose urged the managers of the platform to be transparent and to ensure they stick to contractual agreement with the producers.
“This is because, we the Asaba film producers, have the content and if their financial rewards are good and they can be trusted, we can give them enough content even more than they needed,” she added.
Austin Fanni, a film producer, said that content distribution and marketing were the major challenges faced by film producers in the country.
He said that Delta has become a hub for film producing and that it has taking over from Lagos, adding that Asaba currently represented California of Nigeria in film making.
While congratulating the filmmakers for the alternative platform, he urged them to explore the opportunity provided by Kissa X App to market and distribute their products and make good returns for the money.
Odogwu Enefe, the Chief Executive Officer of Kissa X, said the investment which was worth over a billion naira
had its headquarters in the U.S. and currently with presence in 20 countries across Europe, Australia and Africa.
The Anambra-born US based Tech entrepreneur, said what happened in Asaba was the pre-launch as the major launching would be held in Lagos and other major cities.
He said this would create opportunity for Nigerian filmmakers and content creators to showcase their works and earn money.
Enefe said the platform would be in the league of Netflix and Amazon, while pledging a robust reward for producers as every content has its own value and producers should not have cause to be worried.
According to Enefe, Kissa X will bring entertainment to Nigerians at an affordable rate with a constantly updated library for diverse users need.
