An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) serving in Aba has been taken into custody after going berserk and launching a shooting spree at Command’s headquarters.
Riot policemen demobilised the personnel simply identified as Henry after his pistol stopped firing.
Police say he was fiddling with the gun when he was demobilised.
Sources said Henry started assaulting passersby and shop owners at the Police Officers Wives Association Shops (POWA) near the Central Police Station (CPS) gate.
Then, he started firing the gun aimlessly, causing people to run for dear life.
Police spokesman Geoffrey Ogbonna said Henry was in custody.
