Kokona (Nasarawa State) –  Mr Sanusi Sani, an aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Party (APC) in Nasarawa State, has petitioned the national leadership of the party over alleged injustice meted on him during the just concluded State House of Assembly primaries in his constituency.
Sanusi, who is seeking election to represent Kokona East constituency at the state legislature, made this known on Wednesday in an interview with newsmen in Garaku, Kokona Local Government Area of the state.
He alleged that the whole process was compromised by the APC Returning Officer, describing the exercise in his constituency as not free and fair.
The aspirant called for the cancellation of the election and appealed to the national leadership of the party to conduct a fresh primary in the constituency or present him to INEC as its candidate.
“I have petitioned the national leadership of our great party, APC, over the conduct of the election in my constituency, Kokona East.
“The Returning Officer came late in the night to conduct the election and the conduct of the primary election was marred with a lot of irregularities.
“Non-delegates were used to vote during the primary election, hence my decision to reject the result and petitioned the national leadership of the party,” he said.
Sani also dismissed speculations that he was sponsored by some politicians in the area to disparage the outcome of the exercise.
“I want to clear the air, I bought my Nomination and Expression of Interest forms by myself and I have not received any money from any politician in the name of sponsoring my campaign or election,” he explained.
He called for an end to politics of “God fatherism and government candidates’’ to allow the electorate vote candidates of their choice.
Besides, Sani called for justice and equity in the party to enable it win all seats in the 2019 general election and beyond.
The aspirant urged his supporters to remain calm and law abiding while expressing hope that the national leadership of the party would do the needful at the end of the day. (NAN)
