Assembly sets up 3-man committee to probe irregular payment of LG staff salaries

Lafia – The Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday set up a three-man ad hoc committee to investigate problems associated with local government staff salaries in the state.

Mr.Godiya Akwashiki (PDP-Nasarawa Eggon West), the Deputy Speaker of the house, announced the constitution of the committee after a motion was moved by Tanko Tunga (APC-Awe North) at the floor of the house in Lafia.

Tunga, while moving the motion, said the committee would liaise with the permanent secretaries of relevant ministriesand the state chairman of ALGON to resolve the problem.

Alhaji Abubakar Imam (APC-Lafia Central), who seconded the motion, said that the committee would help in addressing the matter.

The house unanimously passed the resolution.

NAN also reported that the house read for the second time, a bill for a law for the creation of Ogye and Erroh Chiefdom and a bill for a the establishment of Nasarawa State Geographic Information System (NAGIS). (NAN)
