Association of Oduduwa Students honours Emir of Lafia with award of excellence

LAFIA –  The National Association of Oduduwa Students at the University of Ibadan on Saturday conferred an award of excellent as an icon of integrity on the Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isah Mustapha-Agwai II.

Presenting the award in the palace of the monarch in Lafia, the National President of the association, Mr Adekunle Micheal-Adeniyi, said the award was conferred on the emir because of his contributions to peace in the society.

Michael-Adeniyi said the emir’s cordial relationship with the law enforcement agencies among others brought about the award.

He congratulated the royal father on his 40th anniversary on the throne and wished him many more years with good health to pilot the affairs of his people.

Micheal-Adeniyi urged the three ties of government and traditional rulers to find a lasting solution to the insecurity in the country.

Responding, Mustapha-Agwai said he was delighted with the honour, and assured the students that it would spur him to do more for the country to move forward as one united nation.

The traditional ruler thanked the association for the honour and promised to work hard to develop humanity.

The ruler also assured the students of his continued support to the plight of the Nigerian student, and advised them to shun any form of social vices.

He tasked the student to realised that “the future of this country is in your hands as leaders of tomorrow.

“I advise you all to face your studies with all seriousness and not to engage yourselves in any form of things that will tarnish your image.”  (NAN)
