‎NAN reports that Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State had on Jan. 6 appointed Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun as the 8th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the university.

“We acknowledge the governing council for a job well done and the governor for picking the candidate on merit.

“The new VC will enjoy a 110 per cent support as long as he adheres to the rules and regulations enshrined in the university’s constitution,’’ he said.

He urged the VC to always do the right thing and be people oriented, praying that God gives him a discerning spirit to run the institution well.

Idris said the union would also ensure that its members do the right thing at all times.

“We would also ensure that some of our members, who are falling out of line, fall in ‎line and perform their duties effectively.

“This would include teaching at the right time, conducting examination and uploading results when due,” he said.

Idris urged the governor to complete the reformation work he had started in LASU by meeting the outstanding demands of the unions.

According to him, this will enable the VC resume work on a clean sheet.

“There are a number of outstanding issues and we intend asking the new VC ‎when he comes in.

“The 2009/2010‎ outstanding arrears ought to have been paid and the damaged vehicles of the unions replaced so that the new VC can start afresh.

“We are sure that Gov. Ambode is an action governor and he will do the needful,” he said.
