At least 36 killed in Iraq jailbreak

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman, Saad Maan, said on Saturday that six security guards and 30 inmates were in a jail break in northern Iraq.

Maan said that forty prisoners, including nine charged with terrorism, escaped the Khalis prison in the province Diyala, around 75 kilometres north-east the capital Baghdad.

He added that fighting erupted overnight inside the prison after inmates seized guards in their bid escape.
