Birnin Kebbi – Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi has approved the purchase of official vehicles for district and village heads in the 21 Local Government Areas (LGA) of the state.
The state Chairman of All Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Alhaji Shehu Marshal, disclosed this while briefing newsmen after a closed door meeting between the governor and chairmen of the council areas on Friday in Birnin Kebbi.
Marshal, who is the Chairman of Jega LGA, said that the gesture was to facilitate the operational capability of district and village heads, especially on security matters.
“The district and village heads are active participants in security issues, because of their closeness to the people in their domains, especially those in the rural areas,” he said.
The chairman also said that, the governor had consented to the provision of N10, 000 each to less-privileged persons by local government councils to empower and uplift their living condition.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that all the 21 local government council chairmen were in attendance at the meeting.
