Addis Ababa – The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has condemned the attack on worshippers at Finsbury Park in London.
A man drove a van into worshippers outside the Muslim Welfare House at Finsbury Park, London, killing one person and injuring 10 others.
A statement issued on Tuesday in Addis Ababa by AU, said Mahamat conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and wished the injured speedy recovery.
He expressed AU’s solidarity with the government and people of the United Kingdom.
The chairperson reiterated AU’s rejection of such extremist attacks and called for sustained efforts to prevent and counter violent extremism, irrespective of the perpetrators.
He also reiterated AU’s commitment to work with the government of the UK and other stakeholders to end terrorism.
