IKEJA – A 37-year-old auditor, Adewale Adesina, was on Monday charged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting his wife and threatening to kill her.
Adesina, a resident of No. 4, Emmanuel Shobande St., Akute, a border town between Lagos and Ogun, is standing trial on a three-count charge of assault, malicious damage and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Insp. Nurudeen Thomas, said that the accused committed the offences on May 12 at Plot 12, Godwin Igberi Crescent, Ahmadiya, Abule Egba, Lagos.
He said the accused assaulted his wife, Olaitan by giving her a blow on her right eye.
Thomas alleged that the accused conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by going to Olaitan’s office and threatened to kill her.
“Adesina threatened his wife because of her refusal to go back to the house with their two kids after the intervention of both families.’’
The prosecutor said the accused also maliciously damaged a door worth N25, 000, property of one Mr Adeyemi Ishola.
The offences, he added, contravened Sections 166 (d), 171 and 349 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded innocence of the offences.
The Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Oshodi-Makanju, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case to July 7 for mention. (NAN)
