ABUJA – An aviation consultant, Mikel Enedowa, on Tuesday, appeared in a Wuse Zone 2, Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly defrauding a man of N1 million.
Enedowa, 40, is residing at No 11, Hunbori St., Wuse 2, Abuja,
He is standing trial for the offence of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The Police Prosecutor, Mr Abdullahi Adamu, said that on April 29, Franklin Ihesie , of Agbor, Delta State, reported the accused to the Wuse Zone 3 police station, Abuja.
Adamu said that Ihesie reported that sometime in January 2013, the accused fraudulently collected the sum of N1 million from him promising to help him procure a visa to Europe.
He told the court that the accused also promised to make the visa available to Ihesie within three weeks, but failed to do as promised.
Adamu said the accused had also been in possession of Ihezie’s international passport and refused to give him.
“During police investigation, the sum of N100, 000 was recovered in possession of the accused,’’ Adamu said.
He said that the offences contravened sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr Aliyu Shafa, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
Shafa said that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
The magistrate said that one of the sureties must be a civil servant of not below GL 10.
Shafa adjourned the case until June 19 for hearing. (NAN)
